Matthew 19 | Matthew 21

20:1

Ὁμοία γάρ ἐστιν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀνθρώπῳ οἰκοδεσπότῃ ὅστις ἐξῆλθεν ἅμα πρωῒ μισθώσασθαι ἐργάτας εἰς τὸν ἀμπελῶνα αὐτοῦ

Homoia gar estin hē basileia tōn ouranōn anthrōpō oikodespotē hostis exēlthen hama prōi misthōsasthai ergatas eis ton ampelōna autou

Like for is the kingdom of the heavens: man master of the house who it came forth with very early to hire workmen for the vineyard of Him’”

20:2

συμφωνήσας δὲ μετὰ τῶν ἐργατῶν ἐκ δηναρίου τὴν ἡμέραν ἀπέστειλεν αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸν ἀμπελῶνα αὐτοῦ

symphōnēsas de meta tōn ergatōn ek dēnariou tēn hēmeran apesteilen autous eis ton ampelōna autou

Having agreed however with of the workmen from a denarius the day He sent they for the vineyard of Him’”

20:3

Καὶ ἐξελθὼν περὶ τρίτην ὥραν εἶδεν ἄλλους ἑστῶτας ἐν τῇ ἀγορᾷ ἀργούς

kai exelthōn peri tritēn hōran eiden allous hestōtas en tē agora argous

And having gone out around the third hour he saw others standing in the marketplace idle

20:4

καὶ ἐκείνοις εἶπεν Ὑπάγετε ὑμεῖς εἰς τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ὃ ἐὰν ᾖ δίκαιον δώσω ὑμῖν

kai ekeinois eipen Hypagete hymeis eis ton ampelōna ho ean ē dikaion dōsō hymin

And To those said Go you for the vineyard that which if he might be righteous I will give to you

20:5

οἱ δὲ ἀπῆλθον Πάλιν ἐξελθὼν περὶ ἕκτην καὶ ἐνάτην ὥραν ἐποίησεν ὡσαύτως

hoi de apēlthon palin exelthōn peri hektēn kai enatēn hōran epoiēsen hōsautōs

- however they went away Again having gone out around sixth And ninth hour did likewise

20:6

Περὶ δὲ τὴν ἑνδεκάτην ἐξελθὼν εὗρεν ἄλλους ἑστῶτας καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Τί ὧδε ἑστήκατε ὅλην ἡμέραν ἀργοί;

peri de tēn hendekatēn exelthōn heuren allous hestōtas kai legei autois Ti hōde hestēkate holēn hēmeran argoi

Concerning however the eleventh having gone out she found others standing And He says to them What here stand you all day idle?

20:7

Λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἡμᾶς ἐμισθώσατο Λέγει αὐτοῖς Ὑπάγετε καὶ ὑμεῖς εἰς τὸν ἀμπελῶνα ⧼καὶ ὃ ἐὰν ᾖ δίκαιον λήψεσθε⧽

legousin autō Hoti oudeis hēmas emisthōsato legei autois Hypagete kai hymeis eis ton ampelōna kai ho ean ē dikaion lēpsesthe

They say to Him Why no one us? has hired He says to them Go And you for the vineyard and that which if he might be righteous you shall receive

20:8

Ὀψίας δὲ γενομένης λέγει ὁ κύριος τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος τῷ ἐπιτρόπῳ αὐτοῦ Κάλεσον τοὺς ἐργάτας καὶ ἀπόδος ‹αὐτοῖς› τὸν μισθόν ἀρξάμενος ἀπὸ τῶν ἐσχάτων ἕως πρώτων

Opsias de genomenēs legei ho kyrios tou ampelōnos tō epitropō autou Kaleson tous ergatas kai apodos autois ton misthon arxamenos apo tōn eschatōn heōs prōtōn

Evening however having come He says - master of the vineyard - foreman of Him’” Call the workmen And pay to them the wages having begun from of the last until first

20:9

Καὶ* ἐλθόντες οἱ περὶ τὴν ἑνδεκάτην ὥραν ἔλαβον ἀνὰ δηνάριον

kai elthontes hoi peri tēn hendekatēn hōran elabon ana dēnarion

And having come - around the eleventh hour received through a denarius

20:10

καὶ ἐλθόντες οἱ πρῶτοι ἐνόμισαν ὅτι πλεῖον λήμψονται ἔλαβον τὸ ἀνὰ δηνάριον αὐτοί

kai elthontes hoi prōtoi enomisan hoti pleion lēmpsontai elabon to ana dēnarion autoi

And having come - first they thought - more will receive received the through a denarius themselves

20:11

Λαβόντες δὲ ἐγόγγυζον κατὰ τοῦ οἰκοδεσπότου

labontes de egongyzon kata tou oikodespotou

Having received however they were grumbling with of the master of the house

20:12

λέγοντες Οὗτοι οἱ ἔσχατοι μίαν ὥραν ἐποίησαν καὶ ἴσους αὐτοὺς ⇔ ἡμῖν ἐποίησας τοῖς βαστάσασι τὸ βάρος τῆς ἡμέρας τὸν καύσωνα

legontes Houtoi hoi eschatoi mian hōran epoiēsan kai isous autous hēmin epoiēsas tois bastasasi to baros tēs hēmeras ton kausōna

saying These - last one hour they had done And equal them to us you have made on the having borne the burden - days the scorching heat

20:13

Ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς ἑνὶ αὐτῶν εἶπεν Ἑταῖρε οὐκ ἀδικῶ σε οὐχὶ δηναρίου συνεφώνησάς μοι;

ho de apokritheis heni autōn eipen Hetaire ouk adikō se ouchi dēnariou synephōnēsas moi

- however He answering to one of them said Friend not I do wrong You Do not a denarius did you agree with me?

20:14

ἆρον τὸ σὸν καὶ ὕπαγε θέλω δὲ τούτῳ τῷ ἐσχάτῳ δοῦναι ὡς σοί

aron to son kai hypage thelō de toutō tō eschatō dounai hōs soi

take up the yours And go will however to this [man] - last to give as to You

20:15

[ἢ] οὐκ ἔξεστίν μοι ὃ θέλω ποιῆσαι ἐν τοῖς ἐμοῖς; ἢ ὁ ὀφθαλμός σου πονηρός ἐστιν ὅτι ἐγὼ ἀγαθός εἰμι;

ē ouk exestin moi ho thelō poiēsai en tois emois ē ho ophthalmos sou ponēros estin hoti egō agathos eimi

Or not it is lawful Me that which will to do in on the mine? or - eye of You evil is - I good am?

20:16

Οὕτως ἔσονται οἱ ἔσχατοι πρῶτοι καὶ ⧼πολλοὶ γάρ εἰσιν κλητοί ὀλίγοι δὲ ἐκλεκτοί⧽

Houtōs esontai hoi eschatoi prōtoi kai polloi gar eisin klētoi oligoi de eklektoi

Thus will be - last first And many for are called few however chosen

20:17

‹Καὶ ἀναβαίνων ‹ὁ› Ἰησοῦς εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα παρέλαβεν τοὺς δώδεκα ‹μαθητὰς› κατ’ ἰδίαν καὶ ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς

kai anabainōn ho Iēsous eis Hierosolyma parelaben tous dōdeka mathētas kat’ idian kai en tē hodō eipen autois

And going up the Jesus for Jerusalem received the twelve disciples With private And in the way said to them

20:18

Ἰδοὺ ἀναβαίνομεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου παραδοθήσεται τοῖς ἀρχιερεῦσιν γραμματεῦσιν κατακρινοῦσιν αὐτὸν 〈〈εἰς〉 θανάτῳ*

Idou anabainomen eis Hierosolyma kai ho Huios tou anthrōpou paradothēsetai tois archiereusin grammateusin katakrinousin auton eis thanatō

Behold we go up for Jerusalem And - Son of the of Man will be betrayed on the chief priests scribes they will condemn him to death

20:19

καὶ παραδώσουσιν αὐτὸν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εἰς τὸ ἐμπαῖξαι μαστιγῶσαι σταυρῶσαι τῇ τρίτῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἐγερθήσεται

kai paradōsousin auton tois ethnesin eis to empaixai mastigōsai staurōsai tē tritē hēmera egerthēsetai

And will betray him on the Gentiles for the to mock to flog to crucify the third days Will rise up

20:20

Τότε προσῆλθεν αὐτῷ ἡ μήτηρ τῶν υἱῶν Ζεβεδαίου μετὰ αὐτῆς προσκυνοῦσα καὶ αἰτοῦσά τι ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ

Tote prosēlthen autō hē mētēr tōn huiōn Zebedaiou meta autēs proskynousa kai aitousa ti ap’ autou

Then came to Him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her kneeling down And asking anything from of Him’”

20:21

Ὁ δὲ εἶπεν αὐτῇ Τί θέλεις; Λέγει αὐτῷ Εἰπὲ ἵνα καθίσωσιν οὗτοι οἱ δύο υἱοί μου εἷς ἐκ δεξιῶν ‹σου› καὶ ἐξ εὐωνύμων σου ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ

ho de eipen autē Ti theleis legei autō Eipe hina kathisōsin houtoi hoi dyo huioi mou heis ek dexiōn sou kai ex euōnymōn sou en tē basileia

- however said on her What do you desire? He says to Him Say so that might sit These - two sons of Me alone from [Your] right hand of You And out of [the] left hand of You in the kingdom

20:22

Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν Οὐκ οἴδατε τί αἰτεῖσθε δύνασθε πιεῖν τὸ ποτήριον ὃ ἐγὼ μέλλω πίνειν; ⧼ἢ βάπτισμα βαπτίζομαι βαπτισθῆναι⧽? Λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Δυνάμεθα

apokritheis de ho Iēsous eipen Ouk oidate ti aiteisthe dynasthe piein to potērion ho egō mellō pinein ē baptisma baptizomai baptisthēnai legousin autō Dynametha

Answering however - Jesus said Not understand you Which you ask Are you able to drink the a cup that which I am about to drink?” and [a] baptism am baptized to be baptized [with]? They say to Him We are able

20:23

Λέγει αὐτοῖς Τὸ μὲν ποτήριόν μου πίεσθε ⧼βάπτισμα ὃ ἐγὼ βαπτίζομαι βαπτισθήσεσθε⧽ τὸ δὲ καθίσαι ἐκ δεξιῶν καὶ ἐξ εὐωνύμων οὐκ ἔστιν ἐμὸν τοῦτο δοῦναι ἀλλ’ οἷς ἡτοίμασται ὑπὸ τοῦ Πατρός

legei autois To men potērion mou piesthe baptisma ho egō baptizomai baptisthēsesthe to de kathisai ek dexiōn kai ex euōnymōn ouk estin emon touto dounai all’ hois hētoimastai hypo tou Patros

He says to them The - the cup of Me you will drink [and the] baptism that which I am baptized you shall be baptized [with] the however to sit from [Your] right hand And out of [the] left hand not is Mine this to give but for whom it has been prepared by of the Father

20:24

Καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ δέκα ἠγανάκτησαν περὶ τῶν δύο ἀδελφῶν

kai akousantes hoi deka ēganaktēsan peri tōn dyo adelphōn

And having heard [of it] - ten were indignant around of the two brothers

20:25

ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς εἶπεν Οἴδατε ὅτι οἱ ἄρχοντες τῶν ἐθνῶν κατακυριεύουσιν αὐτῶν καὶ μεγάλοι κατεξουσιάζουσιν

ho de Iēsous proskalesamenos autous eipen Oidate hoti hoi archontes tōn ethnōn katakyrieuousin autōn kai megaloi katexousiazousin

- however Jesus having called to [Him] they said You know - - rulers of the Gentiles exercise lordship over of them And great ones exercise authority over

20:26

οὐχ οὕτως ἔσται* ἐν ὑμῖν ἀλλ’ ὃς ἐὰν θέλῃ μέγας γενέσθαι ἔσται ὑμῶν διάκονος

ouch houtōs estai en hymin all’ hos ean thelē megas genesthai estai hymōn diakonos

not thus will it be in to you but who if might desire great to become it will be you servant

20:27

καὶ ὃς ἂν θέλῃ ἐν ὑμῖν εἶναι πρῶτος ἔσται ὑμῶν δοῦλος

kai hos an thelē en hymin einai prōtos estai hymōn doulos

And who - might desire in to you to be first it will be you slave

20:28

ὥσπερ ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου οὐκ ἦλθεν διακονηθῆναι ἀλλὰ διακονῆσαι καὶ δοῦναι τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ λύτρον ἀντὶ πολλῶν

hōsper ho Huios tou anthrōpou ouk ēlthen diakonēthēnai alla diakonēsai kai dounai tēn psychēn autou lytron anti pollōn

as - Son of the of Man not [that] came to be served But to serve And to give the Life of Him’” [as] a ransom for many

20:29

Καὶ ἐκπορευομένων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Ἰεριχὼ ἠκολούθησεν αὐτῷ ὄχλος πολύς

kai ekporeuomenōn autōn apo Ierichō ēkolouthēsen autō ochlos polys

And [as] were going out of them from Jericho — he followed to Him crowd great

20:30

καὶ ἰδοὺ δύο τυφλοὶ καθήμενοι παρὰ τὴν ὁδόν ἀκούσαντες ὅτι Ἰησοῦς παράγει ἔκραξαν λέγοντες Κύριε ⇔ ««ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς» υἱὸς Δαυίδ

kai idou dyo typhloi kathēmenoi para tēn hodon akousantes hoti Iēsous paragei ekraxan legontes Kyrie eleēson hēmas huios Dauid

And Behold two blind [men] sitting by the way having heard [of it] - Jesus is passing by they cried out saying Lord Have mercy on us son of David

20:31

Ὁ δὲ ὄχλος ἐπετίμησεν αὐτοῖς ἵνα σιωπήσωσιν οἱ μεῖζον ἔκραξαν λέγοντες Κύριε ⇔ ««ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς» υἱὸς Δαυίδ

ho de ochlos epetimēsen autois hina siōpēsōsin hoi meizon ekraxan legontes Kyrie eleēson hēmas huios Dauid

- however crowd rebuked to them so that they should be silent - greater they cried out saying Lord Have mercy on us son of David

20:32

Καὶ στὰς ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐφώνησεν αὐτοὺς καὶ εἶπεν Τί θέλετε ποιήσω ὑμῖν;

kai stas ho Iēsous ephōnēsen autous kai eipen Ti thelete poiēsō hymin

And having stopped - Jesus He called they And said What do you desire I will make for you?

20:33

Λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Κύριε ἵνα ἀνοιγῶσιν οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἡμῶν

legousin autō Kyrie hina anoigōsin hoi ophthalmoi hēmōn

They say to Him Lord so that might be opened - eyes us

20:34

Σπλαγχνισθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἥψατο τῶν ὀμμάτων αὐτῶν καὶ εὐθέως ἀνέβλεψαν ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ

splanchnistheis de ho Iēsous hēpsato tōn ommatōn autōn kai eutheōs aneblepsan ēkolouthēsan autō

Having been moved with compassion however - Jesus He touched him of the eyes of them And immediately they received sight they followed to Him
