4:1

Ἰησοῦς δὲ πλήρης Πνεύματος Ἁγίου ὑπέστρεψεν ἀπὸ τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ ἤγετο ἐν τῷ Πνεύματι τῇ ἐρήμῳ

Iēsous de plērēs Pneumatos Hagiou hypestrepsen apo tou Iordanou kai ēgeto en tō Pneumati tē erēmō

Jesus however full Spirit Holy returned from of the Jordan And was led in - [the] Spirit the wilderness

4:2

ἡμέρας τεσσεράκοντα πειραζόμενος ὑπὸ τοῦ διαβόλου Καὶ οὐκ ἔφαγεν οὐδὲν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις ἐκείναις καὶ συντελεσθεισῶν αὐτῶν ἐπείνασεν

hēmeras tesserakonta peirazomenos hypo tou diabolou kai ouk ephagen ouden en tais hēmerais ekeinais kai syntelestheisōn autōn epeinasen

days forty being tempted by of the devil And not ate anything in - days those And having ended of them hungered

4:3

Εἶπεν δὲ αὐτῷ ὁ διάβολος Εἰ Υἱὸς εἶ τοῦ Θεοῦ εἰπὲ τῷ λίθῳ τούτῳ ἵνα γένηται ἄρτος

Eipen de autō ho diabolos Ei Huios ei tou Theou eipe tō lithō toutō hina genētai artos

Said however to Him - devil If Son are of the of God speak - stone to this [man] so that becomes bread

4:4

Καὶ ἀπεκρίθη πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ Ἰησοῦς Γέγραπται ὅτι Οὐκ ἐπ’ ἄρτῳ μόνῳ ζήσεται ἄνθρωπος ⧼ἀλλ’ ἐπὶ παντὶ ῥήματι θεοῦ⧽

kai apekrithē pros auton ho Iēsous Gegraptai hoti Ouk ep’ artō monō zēsetai anthrōpos all’ epi panti rhēmati theou

And she answered to him - Jesus It has been written: - Not in bread alone shall live a man but at every word of God

4:5

Καὶ ἀναγαγὼν αὐτὸν ⧼ὁ διάβολος εἰς ὄρος ὑψηλὸν⧽ ἔδειξεν αὐτῷ πάσας τὰς βασιλείας τῆς οἰκουμένης ἐν στιγμῇ χρόνου

kai anagagōn auton ho diabolos eis oros hypsēlon edeixen autō pasas tas basileias tēs oikoumenēs en stigmē chronou

And having led up him the devil for mountain high he showed to Him all the kingdom - world in a moment of time

4:6

καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ διάβολος Σοὶ δώσω τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ἅπασαν δόξαν αὐτῶν ὅτι ἐμοὶ παραδέδοται ᾧ ἐὰν θέλω δίδωμι αὐτήν

kai eipen autō ho diabolos Soi dōsō tēn exousian tautēn hapasan doxan autōn hoti emoi paradedotai hō ean thelō didōmi autēn

And said to Him - devil To you I will give the authority this? all glory of them - to me it has been delivered which if will I give her

4:7

σὺ οὖν ἐὰν προσκυνήσῃς ἐνώπιον ἐμοῦ ἔσται σοῦ πᾶσα

sy oun ean proskynēsēs enōpion emou estai sou pasa

yourself therefore if You will worship before Me it will be you all

4:8

Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ Γέγραπται Προσκυνήσεις ⇔ ««Κύριον τὸν Θεόν σου» καὶ μόνῳ λατρεύσεις

kai apokritheis ho Iēsous eipen autō Gegraptai Proskynēseis Kyrion ton Theon sou kai monō latreuseis

And He answering - Jesus said to Him It has been written: You shall worship [the] Lord the by God of you And alone shall you serve’

4:9

Ἤγαγεν δὲ αὐτὸν εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ ἔστησεν ἐπὶ τὸ πτερύγιον τοῦ ἱεροῦ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Εἰ Υἱὸς εἶ Θεοῦ βάλε σεαυτὸν ἐντεῦθεν κάτω

Ēgagen de auton eis Ierousalēm kai estēsen epi to pterygion tou hierou eipen autō Ei Huios ei Theou bale seauton enteuthen katō

He led however him for Jerusalem And He set at the pinnacle of the temple said to Him If Son are of God throw yourself from here below

4:10

γέγραπται γὰρ ὅτι Τοῖς ἀγγέλοις αὐτοῦ ἐντελεῖται περὶ σοῦ τοῦ διαφυλάξαι σε

gegraptai gar hoti Tois angelois autou enteleitai peri sou tou diaphylaxai se

it has been written for - To the angels of Him’” He will give orders around you of the to guard You

4:11

καὶ ὅτι ἐπὶ χειρῶν ἀροῦσίν σε μή‿ ποτε προσκόψῃς πρὸς λίθον τὸν πόδα σου

kai hoti epi cheirōn arousin se mē pote proskopsēs pros lithon ton poda sou

And - at hands will they bear up You lest ever You strike to stone the foot of You

4:12

Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ὅτι Εἴρηται Οὐκ ἐκπειράσεις Κύριον τὸν Θεόν σου

kai apokritheis eipen autō ho Iēsous hoti Eirētai Ouk ekpeiraseis Kyrion ton Theon sou

And He answering said to Him - Jesus - It has been said Not you shall test [the] Lord the by God of You

4:13

Καὶ συντελέσας πάντα πειρασμὸν ὁ διάβολος ἀπέστη ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ἄχρι καιροῦ

kai syntelesas panta peirasmon ho diabolos apestē ap’ autou achri kairou

And having finished all temptation - devil departed from of Him’” to time

4:14

Καὶ ὑπέστρεψεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν τῇ δυνάμει τοῦ Πνεύματος εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν καὶ φήμη ἐξῆλθεν καθ’ ὅλης τῆς περιχώρου περὶ αὐτοῦ

kai hypestrepsen ho Iēsous en tē dynamei tou Pneumatos eis tēn Galilaian kai phēmē exēlthen kath’ holēs tēs perichōrou peri autou

And returned - Jesus in the power of the Spirit for the Galilee And report it came forth against all - surrounding region around of Him’”

4:15

καὶ αὐτὸς ἐδίδασκεν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν δοξαζόμενος ὑπὸ πάντων

kai autos edidasken en tais synagōgais autōn doxazomenos hypo pantōn

And He He was teaching in - synagogues of them being glorified by all

4:16

Καὶ ἦλθεν εἰς Ναζαρά οὗ ἦν τεθραμμένος καὶ εἰσῆλθεν κατὰ τὸ εἰωθὸς αὐτῷ ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῶν σαββάτων τὴν συναγωγήν ἀνέστη ἀναγνῶναι

kai ēlthen eis Nazara hou ēn tethrammenos kai eisēlthen kata to eiōthos autō en tē hēmera tōn sabbatōn tēn synagōgēn anestē anagnōnai

And [that] came for Nazareth of whom was brought up And he entered with the custom to Him in the days of the week the synagogue has risen up to read

4:17

καὶ ἐπεδόθη αὐτῷ βιβλίον τοῦ προφήτου Ἠσαΐου ἀναπτύξας* τὸ εὗρεν τὸν τόπον οὗ ἦν γεγραμμένον

kai epedothē autō biblion tou prophētou Ēsaiou anaptyxas to heuren ton topon hou ēn gegrammenon

And there was given to Him a roll of the prophet Isaiah having unrolled the she found the a place of whom was written:

4:18

Πνεῦμα Κυρίου ἐπ’ ἐμέ Οὗ εἵνεκεν ἔχρισέν με Εὐαγγελίσασθαι πτωχοῖς Ἀπέσταλκέν ⧼ἰάσασθαι τοὺς συντετριμμένους τὴν καρδίαν⧽ κηρῦξαι αἰχμαλώτοις ἄφεσιν Καὶ τυφλοῖς ἀνάβλεψιν Ἀποστεῖλαι τεθραυσμένους ἐν ἀφέσει

Pneuma Kyriou ep’ eme hou heineken echrisen me euangelisasthai ptōchois apestalken iasasthai tous syntetrimmenous tēn kardian kēryxai aichmalōtois aphesin kai typhlois anablepsin aposteilai tethrausmenous en aphesei

Spirit of [the] Lord in Me of which because He has anointed me to preach good news poor He has sent to heal the broken the in heart to proclaim to [the] captives forgiveness And to [the] blind recovery of sight to send forth [the] oppressed in forgiveness

4:19

Κηρῦξαι ἐνιαυτὸν Κυρίου δεκτόν

kēryxai eniauton Kyriou dekton

to proclaim [the] year of [the] Lord favor”

4:20

Καὶ πτύξας τὸ βιβλίον ἀποδοὺς τῷ ὑπηρέτῃ ἐκάθισεν καὶ πάντων οἱ ὀφθαλμοὶ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ ἦσαν ἀτενίζοντες αὐτῷ

kai ptyxas to biblion apodous tō hypēretē ekathisen kai pantōn hoi ophthalmoi en tē synagōgē ēsan atenizontes autō

And having rolled up the a roll having delivered [it] - officer has sat And all - eyes in the synagogue they were fixed upon to Him

4:21

ἤρξατο δὲ λέγειν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὅτι Σήμερον πεπλήρωται ἡ γραφὴ αὕτη ἐν τοῖς ὠσὶν ὑμῶν

ērxato de legein pros autous hoti Sēmeron peplērōtai hē graphē hautē en tois ōsin hymōn

he began however to say to they - Today is fulfilled the Scripture this in on the ears you

4:22

Καὶ πάντες ἐμαρτύρουν αὐτῷ καὶ ἐθαύμαζον ἐπὶ τοῖς λόγοις τῆς χάριτος ἐκπορευομένοις ἐκ τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ ἔλεγον Οὐχὶ υἱός ἐστιν Ἰωσὴφ οὗτος;

kai pantes emartyroun autō kai ethaumazon epi tois logois tēs charitos ekporeuomenois ek tou stomatos autou elegon ouchi huios estin Iōsēph houtos

And all were bearing witness to Him And were marveling at on the words - grace coming out from of the [the] mouth of Him’” were saying Not son is Joseph this?

4:23

Καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς Πάντως ἐρεῖτέ μοι τὴν παραβολὴν ταύτην Ἰατρέ θεράπευσον σεαυτόν ὅσα ἠκούσαμεν γενόμενα εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ ποίησον καὶ ὧδε ἐν τῇ πατρίδι σου

kai eipen pros autous Pantōs ereite moi tēn parabolēn tautēn Iatre therapeuson seauton hosa ēkousamen genomena eis Kapharnaoum poiēson kai hōde en tē patridi sou

And said to them Surely you will say Me the parable this? Physician heal yourself’ how much heard having taken place for Capernaum do And here in the hometown of You

4:24

Εἶπεν δέ Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς προφήτης δεκτός ἐστιν ἐν τῇ πατρίδι αὐτοῦ

Eipen de Amēn legō hymin hoti oudeis prophētēs dektos estin en tē patridi autou

Said now Truly I say to you - no one a prophet acceptable is in the hometown of Him’”

4:25

ἐπ’ ἀληθείας δὲ λέγω ὑμῖν πολλαὶ χῆραι ἦσαν ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Ἠλίου τῷ Ἰσραήλ ὅτε ἐκλείσθη ὁ οὐρανὸς ἐπὶ ἔτη τρία καὶ μῆνας ἕξ ὡς ἐγένετο λιμὸς μέγας πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν

ep’ alētheias de legō hymin pollai chērai ēsan en tais hēmerais Ēliou tō Israēl hote ekleisthē ho ouranos epi etē tria kai mēnas hex hōs egeneto limos megas pasan tēn gēn

in [the] truth however I say to you many widows they were in - days of Elijah - O Israel: when was shut - heaven at years three And months six as it came to pass a famine great all the soil

4:26

καὶ πρὸς οὐδεμίαν αὐτῶν ἐπέμφθη Ἠλίας εἰ μὴ εἰς Σάρεπτα τῆς Σιδωνίας γυναῖκα χήραν

kai pros oudemian autōn epemphthē Ēlias ei mē eis Sarepta tēs Sidōnias gynaika chēran

And to not any of them was sent Elijah if not for Zarephath - of Sidon wife a widow

4:27

καὶ πολλοὶ λεπροὶ ἦσαν ἐν τῷ Ἰσραὴλ ἐπὶ Ἐλισαίου τοῦ προφήτου οὐδεὶς αὐτῶν ἐκαθαρίσθη εἰ μὴ Ναιμὰν ὁ Σύρος

kai polloi leproi ēsan en tō Israēl epi Elisaiou tou prophētou oudeis autōn ekatharisthē ei mē Naiman ho Syros

And many lepers they were in - of Israel at of Elisha of the prophet no one of them was cleansed if not Naaman - Syrian”

4:28

Καὶ ἐπλήσθησαν πάντες θυμοῦ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ ἀκούοντες ταῦτα

kai eplēsthēsan pantes thymou en tē synagōgē akouontes tauta

And were fulfilled all with anger in the synagogue having heard these things

4:29

καὶ ἀναστάντες ἐξέβαλον αὐτὸν ἔξω τῆς πόλεως ἤγαγον ἕως ὀφρύος τοῦ ὄρους ἐφ’ οὗ ἡ πόλις ᾠκοδόμητο αὐτῶν ὥστε κατακρημνίσαι αὐτόν

kai anastantes exebalon auton exō tēs poleōs ēgagon heōs ophryos tou orous eph’ hou hē polis ōkodomēto autōn hōste katakrēmnisai auton

And having risen up cast forth him out - city they brought until brow of the mountain against of whom the city had been built of them so as to throw over Him

4:30

αὐτὸς δὲ διελθὼν διὰ μέσου αὐτῶν ἐπορεύετο

autos de dielthōn dia mesou autōn eporeueto

He however having passed on account of [the] midst of them He was going away

4:31

Καὶ κατῆλθεν εἰς Καφαρναοὺμ πόλιν τῆς Γαλιλαίας καὶ ἦν διδάσκων αὐτοὺς ἐν τοῖς σάββασιν

kai katēlthen eis Kapharnaoum polin tēs Galilaias kai ēn didaskōn autous en tois sabbasin

And He went down for Capernaum city - of Galilee And was teaching they in on the Sabbaths

4:32

καὶ ἐξεπλήσσοντο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ ὅτι ἐν ἐξουσίᾳ ἦν ὁ λόγος

kai exeplēssonto epi tē didachē autou hoti en exousia ēn ho logos

And they were astonished at the teaching of Him’” - in authority was - word

4:33

Καὶ ἐν τῇ συναγωγῇ ἦν ἄνθρωπος ἔχων πνεῦμα δαιμονίου ἀκαθάρτου καὶ ἀνέκραξεν φωνῇ μεγάλῃ

kai en tē synagōgē ēn anthrōpos echōn pneuma daimoniou akathartou kai anekraxen phōnē megalē

And in the synagogue was a man having spirit demon unclean And he cried out in a voice loud

4:34

Ἔα τί ἡμῖν καὶ σοί Ἰησοῦ Ναζαρηνέ; ἦλθες ἀπολέσαι ἡμᾶς; οἶδά σε τίς εἶ ὁ Ἅγιος τοῦ Θεοῦ

Ea ti hēmin kai soi Iēsou Nazarēne ēlthes apolesai hēmas oida se tis ei ho Hagios tou Theou

Ha Which to us And to You of Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know You who are - Holy [One] of the of God

4:35

Καὶ ἐπετίμησεν αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς λέγων Φιμώθητι καὶ ἔξελθε ἀπ’ αὐτοῦ ῥίψαν αὐτὸν τὸ δαιμόνιον εἰς μέσον ἐξῆλθεν μηδὲν βλάψαν αὐτόν

kai epetimēsen autō ho Iēsous legōn Phimōthēti kai exelthe ap’ autou rhipsan auton to daimonion eis meson exēlthen mēden blapsan auton

And rebuked to Him - Jesus saying Be silent And come forth from of Him’” having thrown him the demon for midst it came forth to none having hurt Him

4:36

Καὶ ἐγένετο θάμβος ἐπὶ πάντας καὶ συνελάλουν πρὸς ἀλλήλους λέγοντες Τίς ὁ λόγος οὗτος ὅτι ἐν ἐξουσίᾳ δυνάμει ἐπιτάσσει τοῖς ἀκαθάρτοις πνεύμασιν ἐξέρχονται;

kai egeneto thambos epi pantas kai synelaloun pros allēlous legontes Tis ho logos houtos hoti en exousia dynamei epitassei tois akathartois pneumasin exerchontai

And it came to pass astonishment at all And they were speaking to each other saying Who - word this [man] - in authority power He commands on the unclean spirits they come out?

4:37

καὶ ἐξεπορεύετο ἦχος περὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς πάντα τόπον τῆς περιχώρου

kai exeporeueto ēchos peri autou eis panta topon tēs perichōrou

And were going out the report around of Him’” for all a place - surrounding region

4:38

Ἀναστὰς δὲ ἀπὸ τῆς συναγωγῆς εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν Σίμωνος πενθερὰ τοῦ ἦν συνεχομένη πυρετῷ μεγάλῳ καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν περὶ αὐτῆς

Anastas de apo tēs synagōgēs eisēlthen eis tēn oikian Simōnos penthera tou ēn synechomenē pyretō megalō kai ērōtēsan auton peri autēs

Having risen up however from - synagogue he entered for the house of Simon the mother-in-law of the was oppressed with a fever great And they appealed him around her

4:39

καὶ ἐπιστὰς ἐπάνω αὐτῆς ἐπετίμησεν τῷ πυρετῷ ἀφῆκεν αὐτήν παραχρῆμα δὲ ἀναστᾶσα διηκόνει αὐτοῖς

kai epistas epanō autēs epetimēsen tō pyretō aphēken autēn parachrēma de anastasa diēkonei autois

And having stood for above her rebuked - a fever left her immediately however having arisen she began to minister to them

4:40

Δύνοντος δὲ τοῦ ἡλίου ἅπαντες ὅσοι εἶχον ἀσθενοῦντας νόσοις ποικίλαις ἤγαγον αὐτοὺς πρὸς αὐτόν ὁ ἑνὶ ἑκάστῳ αὐτῶν τὰς χεῖρας ἐπιτιθεὶς ἐθεράπευεν αὐτούς

Dynontos de tou hēliou hapantes hosoi eichon asthenountas nosois poikilais ēgagon autous pros auton ho heni hekastō autōn tas cheiras epititheis etherapeuen autous

At the setting however of the sun all as many as had ailing diseases of various they brought they to Him - to one to each one of them the hands having laid He would heal them

4:41

ἐξήρχετο δὲ καὶ δαιμόνια ἀπὸ πολλῶν κραυγάζοντα λέγοντα ὅτι Σὺ εἶ ὁ Υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπιτιμῶν οὐκ εἴα αὐτὰ λαλεῖν ᾔδεισαν τὸν Χριστὸν αὐτὸν εἶναι

exērcheto de kai daimonia apo pollōn kraugazonta legonta hoti Sy ei ho Huios tou Theou epitimōn ouk eia auta lalein ēdeisan ton Christon auton einai

Were going out however And demons from many crying out saying - You are - Son of the of God rebuking [them] not did He allow them to speak they knew the Christ him to be

4:42

Γενομένης δὲ ἡμέρας ἐξελθὼν ἐπορεύθη εἰς ἔρημον τόπον καὶ οἱ ὄχλοι ἐπεζήτουν αὐτόν ἦλθον ἕως αὐτοῦ κατεῖχον αὐτὸν τοῦ μὴ πορεύεσθαι ἀπ’ αὐτῶν

Genomenēs de hēmeras exelthōn eporeuthē eis erēmon topon kai hoi ochloi epezētoun auton ēlthon heōs autou kateichon auton tou mē poreuesthai ap’ autōn

Having arrived however days having gone out went for wilderness a place And - crowds were seeking Him they came until of Him’” were detaining him of the not to go from of them

4:43

ὁ δὲ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτοὺς ὅτι Καὶ ταῖς ἑτέραις πόλεσιν εὐαγγελίσασθαί με δεῖ τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπὶ τοῦτο ἀπεστάλην

ho de eipen pros autous hoti kai tais heterais polesin euangelisasthai me dei tēn basileian tou Theou epi touto apestalēn

- however said to they - And - other cities to bring glad tidings me it is necessary for the kingdom of the of God at this I was sent

4:44

Καὶ ἦν κηρύσσων εἰς τὰς συναγωγὰς τῆς Ἰουδαίας

kai ēn kēryssōn eis tas synagōgas tēs Ioudaias

And was proclaiming for the synagogues - Judea
